Custom joinery, feature doors, cladding and timber work across Wollongong and the Illawarra. Nothing off the shelf — everything made for the space it lives in.
Start your project →Our approach
Bespoke carpentry is where craft meets design. At VIKING, we don't buy off-the-shelf and hope it fits — we design and build custom pieces that are made specifically for your space, your style and your brief. From a recycled timber vanity with a hand-turned knob to a full cladding job with cavity battens and head flashings, the standard of finish is the same.
We handle everything from concept through to installation — joinery, doors, cladding, pergola framing, screening, fencing and architectural timber details. Servicing Wollongong, Tarrawanna, Thirroul, Shellharbour and across the Illawarra.
What we build
Custom Joinery
Floating vanities, built-in wardrobes, shelving, entertainment units and storage — designed to fit your space exactly, not almost.
Feature Doors
Barn doors, herringbone panel doors, pivot doors and custom entry pieces. Stained, painted or oiled to your specification.
Cladding
Linea, Axon, Stria and timber weatherboard. Installed with correct WRB, cavity battens, head flashings and corner details — done properly.
Timber Pergolas
Open-beam hardwood and dressed pine pergola structures — framed, jointed and finished to complement the architecture around them.
Screening & Fencing
Hardwood privacy screens, slat fences, picket fences and custom gates. Built to boundary, finished to last.
Benchtops & Shelving
Hardwood, recycled timber and engineered options. Templated on site, cut and finished in our workshop, installed to tolerances that matter.
Architectural Timber
Skirtings, architraves, reveals, bulkheads and decorative timber detailing. The finishing work that separates a good renovation from a great one.
Bespoke Pieces
Pendant lights, outdoor benches, integrated seating, custom handles and one-off pieces designed in-house and built by hand.
Recent projects
Tarrawanna, NSW
A bespoke bathroom vanity built from recycled hardwood — every board selected for grain and character. The doors are set with hand-turned round timber knobs machined in our workshop, sitting on the split drawer line so the whole face reads as one continuous timber panel. Paired with a honed concrete top and undermount basin, it's the centrepiece of a Tarrawanna bathroom renovation.
Tarrawanna, NSW
A custom barn door built from solid hardwood in a chevron herringbone pattern, stained deep black. Designed as a feature piece for a Tarrawanna bathroom — sliding on concealed hardware, fitting flush into the microcement surround. Every board mitred and glued by hand to hold the pattern through the full height of the door.
Custom fabricated from steel section and fitted with heavy-duty roller track and a soft-close mechanism. Added to an older home as a new internal division — the steel framing and glazed panels were chosen deliberately to tie the addition back to the character of the main dwelling. Industrial detailing, refined execution.
Bangor, NSW
A painted pine pergola structure with dressed hardwood bench seats built into the masonry post bases. The bench slats are spaced and fixed to a concealed bearer, sitting proud of the rendered block piers with a sandstone capping. Clean lines, considered proportions — a structure that feels permanent because it is.

A recycled hardwood sleeper post with an integrated letterbox and concealed ground lighting. The kind of entry detail that sets the tone before you reach the front door.
Full interior fitout of a vintage Viscount caravan. Custom Tasmanian oak cabinetry with rattan door inserts and leather pulls, timber benchtop, shiplap ceiling, and skylight. Every detail considered for a space measured in millimetres.
Hardwood handrail and posts with stainless steel wire infill. Clean, durable, and sharp against the timber grain.
